God’s Justice: Relief for the Troubled

Wednesday, November 13th: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

Bible Verse:

“He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well.”

— 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 (EHV)

Devotion:

Paul writes to the people in Thessalonica, letting them know that even though they are going through hard times, God sees their struggles. He promises that God will take care of them and bring relief. God knows everything we go through, and He will help us. He also reminds us that those who cause trouble will have to answer to God.

It’s comforting to know that God is always in control, even when things are difficult. When we face trouble, we can trust that God sees us and will take care of us. He loves us and promises to bring us relief in His perfect time.

Questions to think about:

1. How does it feel to know that God sees you when you’re going through hard times?

2. How can you trust God when things are difficult?

3. What can you do to remember that God will bring you relief?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for taking care of me when things are hard. Help me to trust You and to remember that You will bring relief when I need it. Amen.

Activity Idea:

Draw a picture of God helping you when you’re going through something hard.

Full Bible Reference:

“All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.”
