God’s Righteousness Judgment: Hope for Believers

Monday, November 18th: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

Bible Verse:

“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”

— 2 Thessalonians 1:8 (EHV)

Devotion:

In this passage, Paul reminds us that God sees everything and will bring justice. For those who choose to turn away from God, there will be consequences. But for those who believe in Jesus, there is hope! Paul writes that God will be glorified through His people, and we will marvel at how wonderful Jesus is when He returns.

Even though this might seem like a serious message, it’s also full of hope. If we believe in Jesus and follow Him, we don’t need to be afraid. Jesus has saved us, and we will be with Him forever. This is a reminder to stay close to Jesus, trust in Him, and live in a way that shows our faith.

Questions to think about:

1. What does it mean to trust and follow Jesus?

2. How can we show others that we believe in Jesus?

3. Why is it important to remember that Jesus will return one day?

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank You for saving me and giving me hope. Help me to follow You and trust in Your love every day. Amen.

Activity Idea:

Draw a picture of Jesus coming back in all His glory.

Full Bible Reference:

“All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.”

— 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 (EHV)
